Description

Desmopressin (1-desamino-8-D-arginine vasopressin, DDAVP) is a synthetic analogue of the natural pituitary hormone 8-arginine vasopressin (antidiuretic hormone). It is modified to enhance antidiuretic activity while minimizing pressor (blood pressure raising) effects. As an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API), it is primarily used to treat central diabetes insipidus, primary nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting), and certain bleeding disorders (hemophilia A and von Willebrand disease).
