Description

Glatiramer Acetate is a synthetic, random polypeptide composed of four naturally occurring amino acids: L-glutamic acid, L-alanine, L-tyrosine, and L-lysine. It is supplied as the acetate salt in a lyophilized powder form. Unlike small-molecule drugs or single-sequence peptides, Glatiramer is a complex mixture of polymers with varying molecular weights and sequences. It acts as an immunomodulator and is the active ingredient in Copaxone® and its generics, primarily used for the treatment of Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS).
