Description

Linaclotide is a synthetic, minimally absorbed, 14-amino acid peptide agonist of the guanylate cyclase-C (GC-C) receptor. It is supplied as a sterile or non-sterile lyophilized powder (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) for the manufacture of oral capsules. Linaclotide mimics the action of endogenous uroguanylin and guanylin, acting locally in the intestinal lumen to regulate fluid secretion and bowel motility. It is the active ingredient in major brands such as Linzess® and Constella®.
